memodio is a Class I medical device under the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR), CE-certified. Published: January 31, 2023.
What Is memodio?
memodio is an interactive smartphone and tablet app for independent, self-directed use. It provides brain training exercises, physical movement guidance, and educational content on managing dementia, frailty/senility, and healthy lifestyle habits.
Users receive a daily therapy session lasting approximately 20–30 minutes, combining an activating component (brain training or physical exercise) with an informational component (nutrition, risk factor management, social participation, and daily life coping strategies).
The app adapts to each user’s individual fitness level, needs, and limitations through both user-provided responses and automatic behavioral tracking. This personalization covers brain training, movement, nutrition, social engagement, and risk factor management.
The app should be used at least five days per week.
System Requirements
To run memodio, you need an internet-capable smartphone or tablet running:
- Apple iOS 12.0 or newer
- Android 6 (Marshmallow, SDK Level 23) or newer
Additional requirements: active internet connection, at least 150 MB of storage, and an email address for account registration. The app is only available on smartphones/tablets — not via web browser on a computer.
Intended Users (Indications)
memodio is designed for:

Safety Warnings
memodio does not replace a doctor or therapist. Never change medications or treatments without consulting your physician. Contact your doctor if you notice any sudden cognitive changes.
Food allergies/intolerances: Always check whether nutritional recommendations or recipes in the app contain ingredients that may trigger a reaction. If so, do not follow those suggestions.
Follow your doctor’s instructions regarding which exercises and movements are appropriate for your health condition. Your doctor’s guidance always takes precedence over the app’s instructions. Ignoring this can lead to pain or injury.
Watch exercise tutorial videos carefully and read all explanatory text before attempting any exercise. If you are unsure how to perform an exercise, stop and consult your doctor or therapist. Incorrect execution can cause pain or injury.
Answer all in-app questions accurately and honestly, especially regarding range of motion, movement limitations, pain, and cardiovascular issues. Inaccurate responses may result in exercises being assigned that are not suitable for you, potentially leading to injury or cardiovascular events.
Some exercises require floor positions (e.g., all-fours or lying down). If you have difficulty getting back up from these positions, do not perform those exercises.
Side Effects
No adverse effects have been reported from proper use of memodio to date.
If you do experience any side effect or adverse reaction while using the app, report it immediately to your doctor and contact memodio at info@memodio-app.com. Serious incidents must also be reported to the manufacturer and the competent authority in your country. In Germany, this is the BfArM (Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices) — memodio GmbH will handle this notification on your behalf.
